29th  birthday style.

a brief note about gratitude for my birthday: wow. what a whirlwind of love, laughter and light. my deepest thanks to everyone who helped me usher in 29 with a big bang. to have all the people i love, surround me, in the same place and the same time, has overwhelmed me with gratitude and thankfulness. this life of mine is blessed with so many amazing human beings, and we all got to celebrate together and that was pretty much the best. i look forward to carrying the light of this weekend with me throughout the year as i shine bright like a diamond (sorry, i had to). there are literally no pictures from my party, but i don't think it's possible to capture something like that. all those important people from every aspect and stage of your life, communing in the same place, it's a really special thing and it makes me understand the depth of love my friends and family have for me. mine for them is infinite. as added extra awesomeness we got to stand on my porch and watch headlamps dot mt. penn like firefly's as more friends competed in the dark and dirty and then enjoyed the fireworks from the fightin' phils game. surreal.

so here's to 29, i'm gonna be iron like a lion in zion.

- picked up that pretty lady at the airport (best birthday gift EVER) and headed straight to vedge and scored a table for two for one of the best meals of my life. new favorite restaurant. 

- spontaneous trip to rehoboth to bask in the sunshine and see the ocean. 

- rocking my iron lion zion necklace from sorrelli with my susan golembiski designs party frock; birthday girl party outfit success!

twenty nine

is the new black, says my best friend..and that totally works for me.

 i laid 28 to rest last night on my mat with sun salutations, gratitude and reflection for probably the most challenging year of my life.  

so, as a little birthday treat dear readers, here's five things i  bet you didn't know about me:

1. i still wear my retainer when i sleep.
2. i whistle all the time, like my dad.
3. sometimes on saturday night at 7pm i'll try to catch the lawrence welk show on pbs. i love it. i used to dance with my grandmother to it when i was little and wear her high heels.
4. i've always wanted to be just like my older cousin christina, because she's the coolest. still is.
5. i took voice lessons for four years.

well technically, i got exactly what i wanted today because my lovely cousin from the far off land of vermont just booked her flight to good ol' pa for my birthday! SO, these shoes would be super perfect to wear while we are celebrating! i'm throwing a party people; watch. out.

i think about wearing this dress pretty much every, single, day. oh heidi, you make my heart all a-flutter with your cali coolness!

omg. it's our birthday! can't believe it's been a year since i sat down with the loveliest of ladies and we dreamed up bloom where you are. mel and phoebe: you are such bright lights in my life and i am thrilled to be on this bloom journey with you! xoxoxo

sooo, yes, i need both of these ( i was thinking the same thing, weird!). i honestly can't pick and they both go perfectly with my fav everyday pieces...it's like finding missing family members.

i learned about james michelle here, and am totally thrilled to see her succeed and prosper - so heck yes i want to buy some jewelry to support that kind of stuff!

i've already thought of twenty times i would use this clutch...it's on my birthday list (it's coming people!!) but i it might deserve to be purchased before then...

weekend wonders

whew. what a weekend. this weather was  a m a z i n g  and just what the doctor ordered. i was outside for as many hours as possible soaking it all in and trying new things, starting to feel like my old self again (or maybe that's the twelve miles talking). but there were quiet moments too, like crawling into bed early on friday night and spontaneously enjoying a visit and homemade kahlua cup of joe with my bestie on sunday, that were the perfect slow compliment to my over the top outdoorsy weekend. bless up.

- friday night bake session for saturday's junk in the trunk fat-ass.

- lvrg roller derby days with the pacers - those girls are fierce and totally inspiring!

- gorgeous reservoir at rustic i never knew existed.

- dudes being dudes at the roller derby; cheap beers and venison steaks in the parking lot.
yes, my friends are rad.

- I WENT MOUNTAIN BIKING AND IT WAS AMAZING.
in case you can't tell, i'm SUPER excited and super proud. 

- delicious home cooked dinner with the girls over at robin's and her totally cool cat zander checking out the birthday flowers.
