Tune in Tuesday

Ever since I was introduced to the Ooh La La album by The Faces a few weeks ago it's been on repeat in my car (Shocker, I know. Me, put something on repeat? No!) It's just nice. And sometimes 'just nice' is just enough. I like the lyrics, the mix of instruments and the fact that it matches almost all of my moods. So, give it a spin and see if you like it! I bet you will.

weekend wonders*.

Is it Monday already? Sheesh, I could have used one more day of uninterrupted shut eye. Well my dears, the first of two big races is over, done, complete! It's a funny emotional mix of relief and anxiety as I determine what my next move will be.

I will be honest with you. Mentally, that race killed me. My spirit, which soared through training season, plummeted quickly the day of the race when the first round of pouring rain let loose before we even got out of the car. At four hours in, with 15 more miles to go - alone, wet, cold and tired - I had a serious talk with myself about what the hell I was doing out there. But I did it, I went out for more. And it ate me alive, but I did it. I finished. And I guess there is satisfaction in that. (And I guess I'm a true Ultra-Runner now.)

It's funny. When you decide to do something and give it your all, everything you've got because you figure it's got to be better on the other side than where you're currently at. You can't feel any worse? So you run to heal yourself because being idle will kill you. You run to prove if you can get through this, you can get through anything. You'll come out clean and reborn, shiny and new. You'll fill the void, the hole, the gap. You'll run so far nothing can get you and you'll win. You'll beat yourself; you'll beat the universe. But what if the opposite happens? What if you come out on the other side worse for wear? More aware of what you're running from rather than what you're running for. What if you finish the race but feel worse than when you started? What happens when you realize you're not as tough as you thought you were? Acutely aware that over three months and over 200 miles later, you're still not okay.

I guess you keep running.

What I Want Wednesday

I want you to do this! Why? Well, because it's a nice thing to do, costs less than a tank of gas and I'm doing it. Love your City - no matter where you are - it will make you feel good.

Tune in Tuesday

It's the first day of spring!! So you know what that means. Roll down your windows, turn up The Grateful Dead and head on down to where the weather suits your clothes. (aka let your inner hippie out - it feels so good, I promise!) Enjoy your day spring chickens! Here's a tune for the road!

What I Want - Twofer

Oh my goodness, I am the worst blogger ever! So sorry for the MIA status. March has been mad to say the least and I feel like I'm going a mile a minute in every direction. So I promise I'll be better to you soon, but in the meantime a few things to get you up to speed jam-packed into one post!

[ Share Our Name via Melanie Linder]

Melanie Linder strikes again! How AMAZING is this print!? Not only is it one of my favorite Avett Brothers songs, it will now be a favorite gift on the wedding circut.

[Shine On via Sorrelli]

I never leave the house these days without a sparkly piece of Sorrelli on these days! MiMi is my personal favorite collection and is now on SALE (hello, Pebble Hinge Cuff)- so get on over to their site and start shopping! (You can thank me later.)

What I Want Wednesday | Spring Break Style

Ohh the crazy days of college - where spring break abounds and you have no choice but to partake in some sort of festivity (even if it just going home for a few days). The point being it's a BREAK. A real one. Whatever happened to that? It's disguised as vacation now for me, but that always comes with some price to pay (whether literally or figuratively). So here's to the spring breaks of the past and hopes for one in the near future (and in this future spring break, I will be wearing these rad shorts)!

I would also like to take this opportunity to point you to Indagare Souk for a truly unique and exquisite shopping experience you can feel good about. I am OBSESSED with this site for many reasons and I am sure you will be too! (There's also Indagare Travel, which is a whole other can of obsession worms that led me to the Souk - seriously amazing concept people. If you love to trave,l like me, it's high-end travel heaven!)

Tomato Pie Thursday

After my introduction to Tomato Pie this past weekend (OMG how I have lived this long and NEVER had it AND live close to Philadelphia = EPIC FAIL on my part) I can't get it out of my mind! SO to the food lab of Double Dutch we go this evening to try our hand (well, more Mel's hand) at recreating this "Italian Hippie Food" (as it was so eloquently described to me) masterpiece. We already knew to start with a homemade Sicilian crust from Salino's (my contribution) and Mel's taking it from there! Stay tuned for a Tomato Pie tutorial should everything turn out awesome!
