weekend wonders.

trail maintenance saturday morning on mt. penn with BAMBA. such a fun, sweaty, rewarding morning. we took to the trails to trim back the summer growth and get some poison ivy  and learn about some seriously cool trails BAMBA has been working on for the past few years; we can't wait to tackle them.

sunday morning stop at the west reading diner to fuel up for a long day of moving, followed by a snap of the most beautiful carrots from b&h organic. erica grows some dang pretty food.

it seems appropriate that the first meal at my new gently used kitchen table from just curious? was pizza, with my parents of course. the spoils of a sweaty day's work.

so, welcome to west reading! i have arrived.

weekend wonders

so, these are out of order. but i figure you're just happy to actually see some action on the blog and aren't picky about how my weekend shook out ;) it was amazingly gorgeous outside all weekend long and i think i spent about 24 hours of it outside and maybe, officially  became a mountain biker? it was a big weekend for birthdays and mountain biking; we hit up swatara state park to ride for libby's birthday on saturday and enjoyed the Duryea Downhill race with BAMBA friends on sunday (check out the entire Gravity East Series here, amazing!). cory had a birthday too and we celebrated it cinco de mayo style and played life-sized jenga (SO fun!). and last but not least, breakfast burritos (from melanie's organic farm bakery) and puppies made my sunday at the downhill race over-the-top awesome, after a long run with lady friends on neversink mountain of course. here's to many more happy weekends!

* oh yeah, the icing in my hair? that's the only proof i made two, three-layer carrot cakes with cinnamon cream cheese icing this weekend. they were a hit, obviously. who knew may babies loved carrot cake!?

weekend wonders | part one

Well first, let's talk about the AMAZING bed and breakfast we stayed at for Glen's ironman/birthday weekend in the Poconos. Since I get overwhelmed even thinking about how perfect Santosha on the Ridge is, I have lots of pictures to share so you get the idea. It truly was the most relaxing, magical place - so inviting, warm and home-like (and clean, local and organic) with the most breathtaking views, amazing kitchen and yoga on the premises. the breakfast was rockin' too and hanging out in the hottub after a trail run wasn't so bad either. so naturally, i plan to open a B&B as soon as possible.

weekend wonders.

[pretty pink tree outside my window]

[newest addition to the apartment - bessie! (an early birthday gift from mom!)]

[my attempt at making blue ombre easter eggs]

[lipstick application in the church bathroom post easter trail run]

[pretty white tulips in my easter basket]

[delicious angel food cake for dessert - still craving it!]

[a sweet easter treat from my bestie ADZ]

Wow! What a wonderful holiday weekend. No one gets really "hopped" up (hehehe) on the Easter holiday, but I have to say the past few days were truly a nice break from the action to enjoy spring and family and food. Spent lots of time with mom, running on the trails and making yummy food (and even scrubbing my floor - for the new addition of course!). Here's to slowing down a little this spring and enjoying the season.

It's easy being green

It's my favorite day of the month! Berks County Living has hit the newstands for its annual green April issue.

I had the terrific task of scouring the County for all kinds of eco - green goods and my friends, you will not be dissapointed. While I love each and every of my handpicked must-haves without question, there is one that I just can not wait to break out and try for myself!

Awesome Andy at East Ridge Outfitters turned me on to this hydration belt and I can not wait to hit the trails and try it out! He is the one stop shop for all of us Berks County outdooraholics, and I promise you will not be dissapointed (or leave empty handed) when you visit his store. Plus, GoLite is a super awesome company who makes really eco-responsible goods you can feel good about purchasing. Win-win, on-on.

Happy Trails!
