weekend wonders

so, these are out of order. but i figure you're just happy to actually see some action on the blog and aren't picky about how my weekend shook out ;) it was amazingly gorgeous outside all weekend long and i think i spent about 24 hours of it outside and maybe, officially  became a mountain biker? it was a big weekend for birthdays and mountain biking; we hit up swatara state park to ride for libby's birthday on saturday and enjoyed the Duryea Downhill race with BAMBA friends on sunday (check out the entire Gravity East Series here, amazing!). cory had a birthday too and we celebrated it cinco de mayo style and played life-sized jenga (SO fun!). and last but not least, breakfast burritos (from melanie's organic farm bakery) and puppies made my sunday at the downhill race over-the-top awesome, after a long run with lady friends on neversink mountain of course. here's to many more happy weekends!

* oh yeah, the icing in my hair? that's the only proof i made two, three-layer carrot cakes with cinnamon cream cheese icing this weekend. they were a hit, obviously. who knew may babies loved carrot cake!?

fresh cut

Be still my heart! How perfect are these fresh cut pretties?! Cut from the garden and delivered to my door this afternoon to surprise a special leading lady this evening in her debut performance in Spring Awakening. The Rustic Bunch has got it going on and has gone straight to my heart with their happy, loving flower bunches. Visit them on Sunday at the West Reading Farmer's Market or like them on Facebook and shoot the adorable Katie a message and she'll take care of the rest. Seriously, they couldn't be cuter or more pleasant to work with - just one more reason I'm a localvore.

What I Want Wednesday

I want you to do this! Why? Well, because it's a nice thing to do, costs less than a tank of gas and I'm doing it. Love your City - no matter where you are - it will make you feel good.

Avett Birthday Bash

A bit belated but we celebrated some birthdays last night at the Avett Brothers show. And what a lovely show it was - great energy, friends and foot-stompin' songs. They even played my favorite! Check out the rest of the amazing set list here.

friday fuel

There's gonna be Soul Shakedown party this evening at the Brass Lantern, where I will experience (in my very own hometown of Reading) two of the Original Wailers bringing me fresh roots, rock and reggae this evening. Bless up!
